Doesn't look bad, if you must have Photoshop. You could try the GIMP, which is free, and see if it fits your needs.

There's also other, cheaper products that might be worth considering (Corel, Jasc), or maybe an older version of Photoshop would do? Or maybe someone knows how to get Photoshop CS2 cheaper...

I've started blogging and want to be able to manipulate pictures, do banners, etc. - I also have a whole ton of digital photos I want to be able to work with. What do you recommend? User friendliness is also key for me...

I see no reason why the GIMP won't suit your needs..
You can download it for free here. There's some bood tutorials here and more on the official gimp.org site.

The musti-windowed interface might scare you at first, heh. You might find the virtual desktop Powertoy useful: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

edit: for the Mac OS X version of the gimp, see http://gimp.org/macintosh/

How user friendly are all of these? I'd rather pay a little bit and get some software that is easier to interface with. The Corel is cheaper than Photoshop on the superstore site, so that's good, and I've heard of that one before too! Thx for the ongoing help! :wiggle:

If you buy from Academic Superstore post you experience. A year or 2 ago I read some bad things about them....but it had to do more with cameras and other equipment then software. I've never bought from them but I'm considering it...some great deals before I graduate!!

Sorry just got back to this one - will do Cootie - I've only heard good things from people I've asked, so if you see something I'd go for it. Looks like there are some rebates on there now too. I'll keep you posted.
