anyone want to recommend me a good desert tan, airborne school boot?

I've been rucking on the weekends and the standard issues are not cutting it.

    Support/Orthopedics is a priority, weight doesn't matter.

I tired Altama's, didn't like them. Too soft/tennis shoe like.

Tried Blackhawk's. OK, but the leather tore within 4 months. Not as firm as I would have liked. Made my feet stink real bad.

Oakley's now. Holding up well with 3 months use and patrols regularly.

I love my Oakleys for everything except ice/snow. The soles are slippery as fuck on ice.

I'm not sure how good they would be if you need support. They fit my feet like gloves and are uber comfortable.

absolutely not, strictly for the field only

*correction* I checked their website they now are offering boots with an EGA stamp which means they that those models are authorized on base. Of course those are $30-50 more :mamoru:

okay... this is where i get confused. In theatre anything really goes... up to a certain point. But back in the US in the field are the boots still legit? Obviously not on mainside, but say like for a annual training or weekend drill in the field for reservists.

My Oakleys are wearable whether I'm downrange or in garrison. They don't have the Oakley logo on them. If they did, it would be a :nono:

well the Marines are a little different. they get their panties in a bunch if it doesn't have an EGA or if it looks like sneakers or anything comfortable. :hs:

Anyone recommend any black steel toe boots? I bought a set of Gates boots from my on base exchange and they fucking blow. I still have the ones from boot camp which are getting rather worn out.

depends on your unit but EGA means you can wear them anywhere.

However, I would only wear issued boots in garrison just so I wouldn't stand out

+1 on Danners. The only con I have with them is they t ake forever to dry out. All that padding just holds onto the water

Oakley boots just feel dead to me. Do want to try another pair sometime.

I have the Danner TFX's. I love them best boot I've ever had and no break in needed.

I recently bought a pair of Blackhawks and they've been tearing me heel apart... definitely has stiffness that needs to be broken in. They are lighter then any boot I've ever had though.
