I sold a guy this MBP I got from a gift site. Brand new, never opened. I know right when you turn it on you can register it.

He said he called Apple and they said they need a store receipt to do warranty work. I had no clue this was the case.

But this can't mean that every computer bought off eBay is without warranty... Someone clue me in so I can clue him in. Thanks.

Warranty info is coupled with the serial number. Warranty starts from date of purchase not date of first turning it on and registering.

he needs to make up some bullshit that he got it a month ago its still under warranty. hell even if its the first one ever made they weren't first sold till janurary of this year so its still under the one year hardware warranty but not the 90 phone support. better yet tell him to get the applecare. thats what i did. my last 2 laptops were all amjor duds and I'm not taking chances this time
