I'm looking into a 20~40Gig Ipod and am wondering if there is anything I should look out for. There are 3 generations now? Is the 3rd the best? Can I use it as a portable hard drive? The FM Modulator ITRIP seems sweet, is it?

    THANKS!

If you want to buy my iTrip, I don't use mine anymore. I'll let it go for $25 shipped since I only used it a couple times. BTW, the new 4th generation ipods are coming out this week or next. :)

I"m interested in your iTrip, how is the reception?

Can I put say a 700MB AVI Movie on it then upload it to another PC later like a portable HD?

The new ipods came out today, 20gig and 40 gig. Longer life of battery, the better clock wheel, and it might be smaller......not sure on that. I bought mine today :coold:

The reception is near perfect unless I go to downtown or around FM radio towers, then it gets a bit fuzzy. Otherwise, completely awesome. The new ipods are pretty cool but I'm going to wait for the 5th generation to come out cause that's when my replacement plan with bestbuy comes up. I'm already experiencing some pretty bad battery life but other than that its held up real well. The 4th gen ipods are thinner than the 3rd gen which is what I have and I love mine. :)

So what was all the shit about DRM (rights management) ?

In most cases DRM only prevents playback, not copying the file from place to place.

I've had a 2nd Gen 10 gb, and now a Mini...... Only thing that annoys me with the Mini is that it tends to freeze up sometimes...... never happened to my 2nd gen ipod.

I have a 40 gig 3rd gen with the iTrip and love it. The sound through the transmitter is a little fuzzy, but for easy of use, it rocks.

I have about 12 gigs of music on it and then another 15 gigs of backup data from my laptop.

Now I'm trying to get a mini through freeipod.com :o

It's fuzzy is it? Have you experimented with as many different frequencies as you can, in order to get the best transmission? I was under the impression it works almost flawlessly when using an appropriate frequency.

I was looking at getting one when I eventually get my ipod :). If it's fuzzy i might consider getting a cheapo cassete thing.
