Buying a new video card, upgrading from PCI-E 1.0 to 2.0 worth it?

any more, you wont find really nice video cards on 1.0, so its really sort of a moot point, isnt it?

So I suppose my real question is, will the 2.0-> 1.0 bottleneck slow down the core/memory clock speeds from their maximum? how does it affect the stream processors/anything else you look into, to buying a video card.

Performance will be effected, but it shouldn't be significant. Last I checked, a pci-e 1.0 bottlenecked a 4850 2-3% or so

Since the mobo you have doesn't support PCI-Express 2.0 it won't matter
It would be like putting DDR400 RAM into a mobo that only supports up to DDR333, sure it'll run but it won't be any faster than what the mobo supports.

i read today in the mobo description "2 x PCI Express x16 slot at x16, x8 speed
Support NVIDIA®SLI™ technology (both at x8 mode)"

so i can only use NVIDIA video cards with this mobo? or can i use ATI?

You may as well buy the best video card you can afford, deal with the limitations (if any) of pcie 1. Later, when you upgrade mobos, you have a nice video card still.

BTW, I think PCIe 3.0 is coming out this year.
