What do you want to do with it?

Being in Chicago you probably aren't going to be carrying it so I would get the Glock 17 or 34.

2 most popular are the Glock 17 and Sig 226. I've owned both, and both were great guns and I had zero problems with them. The Glock will be cheaper, 17 round mags ain't bad either.

When I held them I actually liked the way xd's felt more than glock's. So if you had problems with the xd's being too small, then I wouldn't go for the glock. Try out the sig, and ruger. Ruger 89 felt really good to me, tossed some hogues on it and it's a dream now.

P99 with the large backstrap is a great fit I think.

My G34 makes my penis hard.

and with the 34, you get a lighter trigger, extended mag release, and an extended slide stop. Not to mention a slightly longer sight radius, for better accuracy.

There's always the Glock 19. I'm a big Sig fan, but I like the 19 for simplicity and price. Sig has a few more 9mm pistols that haven't been mentioned yet: P225, P228, and the P229. You can even get the P220 in 9mm if you look hard enough.

My suggestion though is for a P229. For me it's really comfortable in the hand. A pistol I just found though is the HK P2000. I held one and it immediately replaced my want of a G19. 9mm, LEM trigger (DAO), 13 round capacity, and very ergonomic.

I would check out the Hi-power, it *should* be more accurate than a "service" type pistol, loose built = less accurate. Being that this is for the range, a tighter weapon is a good buy.
