What are you going to be doing with the laptop? i.e. gaming, video editing.

As far as brand they are pretty much all the same, in the sense that they use pretty much the same shit inside.

Standards for a notebook you should be looking for:
Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 2.4ghz+
    512mb ram
    15" xga tft display
40 gig or larger hard drive
    cd-rw/dvd-rom
    wireless internet
thats pretty much what I would look for in a notebook for general use.

 I have an R32 as well. I love it, and am typing on it as... um... we speak? If I could afford a Powerbook, I would have bought one. They're solid machines. If you're looking for a Win32 system, IBMs are (IMO) the best you can buy. Centrino chipsets offer more efficient CPUs and better battery life.

I have a Powerbook, monitor has ghosting, drive has been replaced etc etc... Its a MAC thing, most people love them or hate them, I am leaning towards hating.

My company has about 60 laptops, Hp, Compaq, a few IBM's but the machines of choice are still the Dells.

i'm pretty much just going to use it for OT and other websites, IRC and AIM chatting, writing papers for college and other work, with some gaming. Like some old school Brood War and a few other games.

Thanks for your posts guys :)
