So I want to get a USP, but the prices around here are ridiculous ($830 for the 9mm/.40 and $900 for the .45 in all the local gunshops). I've checked out CDNN and their prices are a hell of a lot better ($617 for the 9mm/.40 and $672 for the .45).

So my question is this: Has anyone in California purchased a handgun from CDNN? Or anywhere else for that matter. If so, would Big 5 be a good place to handle the FFL transfer? I believe they charge 10-20 bucks for the hassle.

I know that CDNN will have to swap in the 10-round mags, but other than that it doesn't say that they don't sell guns to Californians.

    :dunno:

CDNN will NOT sell handguns to Californians. In general if the handgun is on the CA DOJ approved list, then most online sellers shouldn't have a problem.

If Big 5 only charges the DROS+ $10-20 then that's a pretty good price. Average FFL fee for a transfer in Norcal is $45+DROS, however I have a dealer that does transfers for $20+DROS.

Buy your USP from these guys: http://www.ajcsportshop.com/heckler/usp.htm

    $627 for a USP in 9mm/40S&W
    $670 for a USP in 45ACP

They have no problems switching mags out. They're good people to deal with and I'm planning to purchase a P2000 from them.

You need an FFL. Big5 will charge more than $10-20. Your best bet is find someone with an FFL lisc. and pay them to transfer it for you. Thats what I did with my Sig

Big 5 is an FFL? I know they do transfers from private parties but I didnt think they would do anything else. I used Saddleback Valley Gun Center, its a cool place and George is great, I was in there a few days ago and he had a few USPs. Just remember you need your HSC and a DOJ certified lock.

Big 5 will do private party transfers but not shipped in. At least around here.

At Krauswork collectables in San MAteo, the guy will have it shipped in for 45 bucks total. Which is a great price if you ask me.

good luck. I hate KA prices.

No I dont, but from what I've seen he is always better priced than anyone else around here. Plus if you buy from him its just the DROS fee and tax, no FFL transfer fee and no shipping.

The Big 5's around here also won't do out of state transfers, I'm pretty sure they only do private party. Any local gun shop should be willing to do it, shop around for your best price.

I know I'm digging this one up, but why start a new thread....

CDNN won't sell to Californians?! Why not? I'm looking for a 9mm 229R and I was hoping to buy from them! :wtc: It's on the CA DOJ approved list, so why would there be a problem?

I'm pretty much set on getting a Sig, but they're so damn expensive to buy new at a gun shop around here! If anyone knows an online retailer that has decent prices on Sigs, new or used, AND will sell to Kali, I'd really appreciate the help. I should have never moved out here!!

Not trying to be a smart as, just curious because I have a copy of CA's firearm laws and have read it cover to cover- in regards to an out of state retailer, what "bs" do they really have to deal with to sell to a californian? It can't be that big of a deal.

I mean, CA's laws do suck when compared to alot of states, but they aren't THAT bad(currently). I think the rhetoric around here about CA laws is a little exaggerated.

You clearly don't appreciate the rights you're being denied, nor the way you're being treated and viewed as a 'citizen' in California. All of you that are willing to sit there and take it, are the reason that California is the way it is. No one will draw the line and stand up for rights that you should be born with. California turns my stomach.

No one wants to deal with it plain and simple. Lawsuits, etc. People know CA gun laws are bad, and just dont want to deal with them.

 Yeah, I better get up and move out right away. I'm not gonna live here forever, but I have to for the time being.

And again, nothing but general statements...what specific law turns your stomach so?

It may not be a huge deal, but its enough that they dont want to bother with it. Every order to CA they would have to make sure that the weapon is on the approved list, doesnt have a threaded barrel, has 10 round or smaller mags. :dunno: maybe they just dont think its worth it.

Turners had a sale on the USP .40S&W, nearly same price as it would have been to transfer from somewhere else cheaper, so I picked that up :)
