I've decided I'm tired of renting/borrowing guns and am finally going to get a Glock 19 for myself. I'm ordering from topglock and was thinking about spending the $50 extra to get the meprolight night sights since installation is free. The only problem is I have no experience with night sights since no one I know has a gun with them, and the range I go to doesnt have any on the rentals so I'm doubting whether I need them or not. The gun will be for range use mainly but would also be used for home defense should the need arise. Any advice? Also any other accessories you would recommend (holster, weaponlight, grip, etc.?)

Night sights would be nice, obviously for low light situations. Personally i'd just get a couple of extra mags and lots of ammo.

Mepros or Trijicons are fine...both are from Wixom :o

When I get a new gun, I think I will get yellow back and green front, or Heinie Straight Eights. As far as holster, Blade Tech or Comp-tac for Kydex, Whatever you want for leather. Light? Maybe just an M3 as is probably won't be used that much.

Alright, so I've decided on getting the mepro sights, and I'm going to hold off on the light.

I was thinking about a paddle holster since I've used those before, and also since I'm not looking at getting my CCW, at least not yet. Would you still recommend Blade Tech and Comp-tac paddle holsters over say Fobus, or Uncle Mikes?

Do you mean the Insight M6X? The $400 flashlight?

M3 light is great and only is $100 but a off hand flashlight would do just fine with your situation.. I like the extended slide lock. A $5 part.

Thats what I was thinking, I almost always have a Surefire G2 close by. I will look into the extended slide lock also.

ammo and mags. it's sooo nice to have lots of mags loaded so when you get to the range you have time to focus on shooting rather than loading

I've got ammo, and will probably save the money on extra mags for range fees. I was thinking that $50 for good night sights with free installation was too good a deal to pass up since getting the sights seperate would cost $70+ plus installation.

Go for the sights then, they are a pretty good deal anyway.

Rather have more mags than nightsights. Chances are, you won't need to use it anytime soon, especially at night. So, you can get more practice time shooting it at the range if you have more mags. :)

Ammo and range time, no accessory is going to help you if you can't shoot the gun.

I'd go w/ the mags and night sights. 2nd choice would be mags and more ammo.

I just say get the mags w/ the gun because they're kind of expensive to get afterward and now you have it and don't have to worry about it. Night sights are also nice to have on a defensive pistol if that's what this one will be used as.

I've heard there is some argument between those with Trijicons vs those with Mepros. But since I've never seen either of them I cant judge them myself.

Is Ameriglo associated with Truglo? I've heard good things about their TFO sights working both at night and during the day. Anybody have experience with these?

Negative. The only thing more useless than a pistol that is only good for 12 hours a day is an empty one.

    Night sights.
