    1. No, but you can get the tiger install dvd for like 10 bones or something with the coupon.

    2. I've heard that the crucial website is very helpful in picking the exact ram you need for your application. From there, you could probably get it from macmall or some other apple retailer.

    3. I dunno about the bluetooth deal maybe someone else can help. :x:

    4. I dunno i just use my school backpack. :o

    5. I purchased an apple keyboard + mouse to save some wear and tear on the keyboard and wrist-rest on my iBook. Just something to consider. Also, if you can afford it, the iWork software is really awesome. Better than ms office IMO.

hope that helped a little. congrats on your purchase :bigthumb:

    1) No idea...
    2) Just go to your local electronics store, buy a quality (ie, expensive) piece of DDR333 SO-DIMM memory. I'm using a 1GB stick of GEIL in my 12" PB
    3) I use the re-chargeable Bluetooth mouse sold (i THINK) by MacAlly. I bought it at CompUSA in the "Mac" section.... its small, and rechargeable -- so it kicks ass :)
    4) I use a backpack, or a small case that just fits the laptop and a few papers -- depending on where i'm going..
    5) get an extra battery -- trust me on this.. i have bought an extra battery with every Mac laptop I have owned, and its awesome being able to go a full day and get 8-10 hours of solid use out of the laptop without a plug..

good luck! the 12" pb is amazing! i love mine!

I purchased one for my 17" well over a year ago. The fit is very snug. It only protects againts scratches, etc and offers zero padding. If you have a good laptop case, there really is no need for it.

If anyone want's my 17" sleeve, first $5 gets it!

Congrats on the Powerbook purchase... :bigthumb:

If you are going be using it on your desk a lot, I highly recomend an iCurve to position your screen a little higher like a monitor. That combined with the bluetooth keyboard and a mouse (bluetooth or not) and you are set. I just checked a 12" ibook just fits on the stand, I think the dimensions are very close between PB/ibook. I will take a pic for you in a bit.

A good laptop case is important. Check out BooqBags for tons of great bags and sleeves. They have a mailbag type bag.

I would pick up RAM for your laptop locally, it might cost a couple bucks more but it will be local (if there is a problem) and you will have it sooner.

Let me know what you are going to be using the laptop for and I might be able to offer some more "specific" suggestions.

if you want a sleeve that zips completely shut and actually has some padding, i highly recommend on of these guys...

i have the 15" model for my 15" PB and am very happy with it. i actually have to lug a pc laptop and the powerbook to and from work every day. the pc laptop fits snug in the padded laptop compartment of my backpack and the padded sleeve keeps the powerbook safe in the main compartment of the backpack.

not if you can plug into an outlet for the time your switching batteries.. then it will run off the wall until the battery is changed..

Yeah. I've found that most computer bags that don't look totally square do cost a bit more.

I really wanted to get this bag...

...but I decided it wasn't worth getting a full cavity search every time I went through airport security. :)

If you guys read the manual, you just have to put the powerbook to sleep to change batteries. The powerbook has an internal power source that will last for 3 minutes while you swap batteries.

I purchased a cloth protector back when I purchased my laptop thinking I needed everything and anything to protect it, I used it for maybe the first two weeks. I travel a lot with my laptop and the lid is constantly being open and shut. I have never had a problem with the keys scratch or touching the screen.

Wouldn't it be poor design if you "required" something to protect the screen? I would suggest saving your money on something more useful.
