This won't be a gaming rig so I'm considering buying a Dell. I'd just like some other input on this. My current computer was built by a friend's brother 5-6 years ago and my main HDD is about to crap out. I'm sure I can handle building this one myself.

Most posts I've seen are for those using it for gaming. All I'll be using it for is internet, video and picture editing. I have a large tower case so I figure I'd reuse it.

So what I'll need is -

CPU - Lots of recommendations of Intel C2D E6600 but do I need it?
    Mobo - ?
Video Card - not for gaming so I don't need a high end one.
    PSU - ?
    RAM - 1 gig
Smaller HDD - I have an external HDD for backup
    DVD RW drive
LCD Monitor - 19" or 20" will do. Using a 17" CRT now.
    Anything else?

I'd like to keep it under $800 but might consider up to $1000.

    Thanks

i think that for what you want it for you should just buy a Dell or another brand, you really dont need a powerful one unless you game

I would call dell and see what they offered.

for a grand I am sure you could pick up a nice system with all the software included.

No hacking, no drivers to fuck with. you just plug it in and enjoy.

you are a normal user, enjoy the resources the commercial world lets you have with a warranty.

Looks nice for your needs, but you could get better hardware if you don't get that 20007WFP.
