so I'm taking a marketing and promotions class, and I hung out with the instructor for a bit, and she gave me some help designing a card layout.

    OT's thoughts?

The black side is the front, and the black vertical rectangle would be used throughout the letterhead, business cards, website, etc.

hmm, how many different fonts do you have going on?

I think I like it, but it seems like everything is in a different font (maybe its just my eyes)

The font for 32 makes it kinda look the 70s.

not feeling the courier-ish looking font.
    But that's just me.

2 fonts - american typewriter and century gothic.

I was going for a classic, almost timeless sort of theme. I'm up for some changes in the font if they're really that bad or that much of a mess, but I'll be honest, I do like the american typewriter font.

Perhaps if I got rid of the bold on the big 32? It seemed sparse up there with it just a normal font, but I can see how you would think it was a different font than the email and website addresses...

    Hmmm...

here it is with the top font unbolded, and the tel# changed to typewriter too.

    better? worse?

    but, that being said

i got a TON of different opinions on mine. you can't please everyone.

some loved it, some hated it. i've given a bunch out and gotten some great compliments.

you cant please everyone. take some advice, but ultimately just do what you want.

i like the 2nd one more.

you should spend some coin & have the 3 & 2 die cut out of the card :eek3:

personally, i would make the black text on the back much lighter - i always use my business cards to write notes on the back.

    Yeah man, I hear that.

I'm just looking for some other eyes. I've found that I get tunnel vision pretty quick with some of the stuff i'm working on. One of my weaknesses I guess. So I like to hear opinions, and even if I don't take em, it might open me up to something else....

I like the first one your did except for the number 32 but I know that is just me and a matter of taste. I am not a big fan of curvy lines thats all.

I think it will be a great addition to your film noir gallery thing your are doing

I like the font you used in "photography" gives it a trendy/clean/modern look. Have you tried making it all in the same font, just different sizes and maybe use bold or italics here and there to change it up? Or would that be just to boring?

too many fonts going on for me.

if anything, keep the 32 the same and make everything else the same sans-serif font

Ok. issues with fonts noted. Gonna play with that more later. Maybe leave Counties in the typewriter font, but put everything else in the sans font.

How do you guys feel about the vertical design? Should I make a horizontal one? Does the vertical work?

that's another one of those hit or miss things from what I hear. Some people say to do this others say no. It's one of those things that some people will remember forever or will hate immediately. :dunno:

i personally like vertical designs, though I design both ways.

for the backside of your cards, have you tried making the logo sit diagonally and stretch off the sides of the card. maybe bring the opacity down slightly. that'll make the cards have 2 distinct sides. just a quick idea/suggestion

:werd: Not a fan of that idea. Just personal preference. It looks great on some cards, but my work is too varied and I get sick of my own stuff if I look at it too long...

Might give that a shot! Not sure how it's gonna work with the text vs. an image based logo, but I like the idea. thanks!

it does tend to only show one style, I do however know a guy who was able to get like 6 images on cards so that he's got 1000 cards with alternating images. The problem is that I've spent the last year or so trying to learn things like photoshop and photgraphy by the seat of my pants, so I don't want to be stuck with a card with an image on it that really isn't my best, let alone a representation of my current work/quality. It takes a while to go through 1000 cards:o

^exactly why I ordered 250 cards with my fav pic on it

I'll go through them pretty quick and then can decide if I want that image or not again.

made a horizontal variation... Thoughts? same deal - white side would not be UV coated, and is mostly transparent so I can write notes on it.
