Is it better to burn fat fast walking or running? I been seraching but it seems to be a very controversial issue.

I did notice today at the gym when i put the treadmill at speed 4 and incline 6 my Heart rate stays high around 135-140 vs.. jogging at 4.8 w/ incline 2 its stays at like 148ish. My Target heart rate is 127

    so whats better?

How fast is your fast-walk and how fast do you run? My recommendation is to run.

Heart rate should be between 150-160bpm.

true, and it will also burn glycogen in your blood (energy) before it turns into fat, but can also be catabolic, and burn muscle at the same time. Double edged sword :sad2:

High incline treadmill walking is my favorite. I also power walk at least 10 miles a week around my little town park or upto the local blockbuster.

Well the speed will greatly control the heart rate. You rate to lose more weight while running than walking because your heart rate is higher.

Just get out there and run, and make sure to diet well. The fat loss will come.

I've been dragged to the ER with a heart rate that fast :ugh: Also, at 171 I had tachycardia, but those were resting rates.

I maintain a HR of 168-170 while doing cardio. No hospital for me.

You must take your current health state into account, which I'm sure you have.

Target heart rate is only a starting point if you're new to working out. After all, its based on your age and you'd think that you'd get in better shape over the course of a year. (ex. if its you 25th birthday you're zone is 127-146 but after exercising for 365 days you'd think that you'd have progresses, or i'd hope you did) Second, the higher your heart rate the more fat you burn. Always push yourself.

does it go back down? Mine was during resting a few years ago, when I was working. I didn't feel good, dizzy and shit, someone at work called the paramedics = I got carted off and had angioplasty. :wtc:
