Anyone know if the regular macbook is capable of burning dual layer dvds? I have a 6gig file I would like to burn.

This is my disc drive specs:

    MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857:

    Firmware Revision: HBE4
    Interconnect: ATAPI
    Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
    Cache: 2048 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW
    Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
    Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
    Media: No

I've looked online, but I can't seem to get a definite answer. Any help would be appreciated.

my macbook pro core duo doesnt burn dual layers.

last time i needed to burn a dual layer disk i just put the file on an external hdd, took it to the apple store, plugged it into a mac pro, and burned it.

People posted instructions for single layer, but I tried it and it didn't work. I got to the install screen and it said something about missing files or some shit.

I have an external, but its usb and its FAT32 so unless I go through the trouble of reformatting it and a bunch of other shit, I can't use it.

All that work just to check out the beta version.... no thanks.
