    well, it saved his life

I couldnt sleep with a gun under my pillow. I honestly think I'd shoot something in my sleep, with a good chance of that something being myself

I'd keep it in the nightstand too if it had a drawer.

I'm just saying, there's a difference between sleeping by the weapon and on the weapon

I've been thinking about getting one of these: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=256826

I've got an alarm, so I'll know if anybody tries to get into the house. With that, It'll keep the gun hidden from nosy family, friends, relatives or kids who come around the house and like snooping around in drawers. Plus you can put it wherever you want.

Uh, he is a 73 year old man living in EAST St Louis, Il. Yea, he has plenty of reason to live in fear. Actually old people down there are starting a trend...

You have GOT to be joking.

You can extrapolate that to any distance... all the way out to even owning a gun at all.

Well the thing is, i'd be afraid of accidently pulling the trigger while sleeping :noes:

Nightstand is a good compromise for me :o

Perhaps he doesn't have a nightstand within reach. Either way it sure seemed like having the revolver under his pillow was the perfect place for this encounter. Is he paranoid? Nope, now he's justified. :)

Honestly reading this makes me rethink the whole "gun in the safe" idea. Even if it is quick and easy to get to it. Then again had that guy's gun been on his nightstand then the crook probably would have gotten it. They said that he walked over and stole the dude's wallet.

I have dogs so noones going to get near my bedroom before I'm already wide awake, my gun is usually on my night stand or over on the desk.

I have my G34 on top of my nightstand with a G2 next to it. I find that having a light separate from your weapon allows you to index it at arms length and keep them from getting the drop on you. I also have an FN Tactical with some good ol' Federal 00 low recoil buck behind my door.
