Bullet resistant glass - range test pics - more pics on 3

A friend of mine took a large piece to the range I tested out some of the bullet resistant acrylic I am selling thought you guys would appreciate this

    9mm-------------------------9mm--------------------357 SIG
    Speer GD 124 +P------Federal HST 124+P-----------Speer GD 125

    ----------------------------223 IMI855--------------------------
    --------------------------62grn green tip-------------------------

    357 SIG-----------------357SIG----------------------45 ACP
    Fed Premium 125-------DT 125 GD-----------------Speer GD 230

    223----------------------------223-------------------223
Hornady TAP 60------- -Black Hills Blue Box---------Hornady TAP 75
    -----------------------------68 NMHP----------------------

    Pistols shot at 10 yards
    Rifles shot at 15 yards

Only the 68 and 75 gr 223 loads penetrated the acrylic
I shot it today with IMI 855 and that went all the way through

The 357 SIG rounds from DT and Speer did the most damage of the pistol rounds. The 45 just bounced off!!

And for those who are wondering.....I still have lots of this stuff!!!

wow, i cant believe the .45 bounced off... probably due to its lower velocity. do you have any 7.62x39 guns you could test with? i would be curious to see those results

So, tell me why anybody on OT would need bullet resistant acrylic? And, if some rounds passed through it wouldn't be bullet resistant, right?

:dunno: Well seeing that I’ve sold 46 pieces so far you tell me.

This is level one acrylic. Not stuff from a tank. It’s only rated for handgun use & light handgun use at that (9mm, .40) well it stopped a light .223 round.

This is something strictly for backyard fun.

    cheers

needs some 7.62 testing, full power 10mm loads would be interesting too.

The fact that it stopped some rounds makes it RESISTANT. If it stopped all rounds, period, it could be called bullet PROOF. Hence the reason you see most things marketed as RESISTANT.

 a green tip .223 went sailing through. doubt a 7.62 would even slow down. the .45 only left a small mark which makes me think anything short of a .44 mag or or a .500 would not breach it. unless a follow up round was issued.

I never said it WAS bullet proof. How can it even be classified as resistant if some rounds make it through...?

Same could be said about bullet proof vests.

because most service station robberies are by pistol or knife, not AR15 or AK47

I suppose. I guess it depends on the scenario. If it is for law enforcement use I am sure most vests would stop a 9mm, .40, .45 ACP, etc. Now, if it comes to military most of our combatants are using 7.62 rounds would would sail through most body armor depending on the round in which is being fired.

So, if someone is going to rob a quickie mart they should bring an AR15 or an AK47 if they plan on blasting through the window. :mamoru:

I am sure just seeing the thick acrylic would be enough to stop a potential robber.

I am selling it. I can make as big of a piece as you want. I only make the smaller ones because they're easier & cheaper to ship. i have a bunch but it's going fast

    let me know.

that guy on the left in that pic is a member of the Oakdale club.

Good to here you'd fire back. :)

I know there are a lot of stations in bad areas where they always have the piece closed. The best way around that would be to flip a tear gas grenade or something similar under it where they give change back. That would flush them out pretty quickly...
