Hey guys, this is my first post in this forum and I'm not exactly fitness savvy so excuse anything stupid I say :)

So here's the deal, I'm trying to make the basketball team at my highschool (Jr. Varsity, Freshmen year.) I'm 6'0" and I weigh 130 :hs: I'm looking to gain some weight to at least become a power forward for the team. Now, the power forward from last year was something like 6'1", 180.

What do you guys reccomend? I've heard about bulking, but I'm not exactly sure how to go about. Can you guys give me some tips? Thanks! :hsd:

you're gonna have to eat a ton of food to gain weight if you're playing bball every day...just eat as much as you possibly can, and then some more...and then more after that. and then more.

EAT. Lots of chicken, tuna, fish, pasta. Stay away from garbage weight gainer and instead supplement protein.

And as stated above, you're going to be very active so it's going to make it more difficult, however, you're growing a lot at your age so hopefully it wont be as bad. Just keep eating. It really is as basic as that. There are no magic pills or supps you can take to replace food. It will be hard at first, but just keep at it.

Calories at 15x bodyweight to start, as much of it as healthy as possible but don't be afraid of junk.

Edit: 15x BW is not much for you, try to get over 3500 cals/day.

Thank you very much for your suggestions guys, I will keep them in mind. Ralykys, so basically I eat whatever, whenever? Hah, this'll be easy :p But seriously, wouldn't it be ideal to stay away from fast food, etc?

Weight doesn't mean shit if you aren't any good. Doesn't basketball practice/tryouts usually start in like a month or so?

No, I'm good at basketball. I used to average ~25 PPG in other leagues I played in, but I played point guard. I'm thinking with my height, coach'll try to put me in as power forward.

Edit: Yes, they do, but the actual season doesn't start until December, I believe.

I played point all throughout high school at 6'4.5".

You really should have started trying to gain weight during the beginning of the offseason, not a month or so before you are gonna be doing conditioning. If your coach is worth a damn, you are gonna run your ass off. I used to lose about 5-10 pounds before the season started, and then even more in season

Wanna make a good impression on your coach? Start running now

Im talking about gaining weight. Sorry, I've put on 25 pounds and none of seems to be fat. I've posted pics. I'm not the biggest, I'm not the strongest but I don't think anyone can deny I'm doing an ok job.

I'm no expert, simply passing along what's worked for me.

Get high, and then eat a lot of food. Not junk food, but like chicken and other foods as previously mentioned.

dude you really should have looked into this at the begining of the summer... you're sitting at 6"0 130lb... you have a lot of work to do and it's fuckin late. when are try outs?

Start a 3-4 day split, do some cardio (possibly intervals depending on how athletic you are), and eat everything in sight.
