    Since I'm no longer a fatass -
http://forums.offtopic.com/showthread.php?t=2357122 - I figure it's time to add some more muscle mass. But I'm not exactly sure how to play it.

I've still got what I consider to be a sizeable amount of fat, evidenced in these pics:

The problem is, I want to be lean for the summer. I live on a lake and plan to enjoy no longer being a fat fuck.

With that in mind, what do the F&N brollies suggest I do? I see pretty much two options here (but feel free to suggest others):

    1) Continue cutting for another month to get even leaner, then go hardcore bulk into summer and hope I don't put on a shitton of fat.

    2) Bulk for 2 or 3 months then cut, hopefully losing enough fat fast enough to look good for at least part of summer.

I don't REALLY like either of the options. I've never done a proper bulk so i have no idea how much fat my body is going to put on. If I can add lean mass almost exclusively, option 1 seems better- just bulk right through summer and into fall/winter.

But being a former fatty I would not bet on that happening. However, three months seems too short for a good bulk - I'd be lucky to put on 10 pounds of lean mass in that much time. I feel like i'd be shorting myself some solid gains.

    Thoughts?

    Clean bulk maybe? :dunno:

Won't be as big of gains but I would think it would keep the fat down.

looks like uve lost a ton of weight, gj man u have more dedication than most and uve made some serious progress, lift hard and dont worry about bulking if u want to look "lean" for the summer just keep eating around 1g per pound of bw of protein and keep a clean but calorie efficient diet (i.e. 2500-3000cals per day)

Based on how much i've been eating lately, and how quickly i've been losing fat, I would be bulking at 2500-3000 cals/day :o

don't go nuts, add calories SLOWLY. The first three weeks to a month your body is going to want to add fat. Bump it up by 200-250cal a week depending on your daily kcal goal.

Also, I don't want to burst your bubble, but you need about 9 months of bulking followed by about 4 of cutting to be where you want to be. You won't be "ready" this summer, but you can still enjoy it if you get some muscle under that fat and at least get a decent V shape starting to appear, you'll just look like a thicker somewhat strong guy. You should have noticeable muscle gains by June and by Late summer (August) you may look decent? It's pretty hard to say, but you won't be pleased with the way you look this year... trust me :hs:/

Damn, I wanted to go apeshit right away :o

I don't know if i'll ever be really satisfied with the way I look. I'm shooting for as good as possible for summer. This isn't the ideal time to bulk - I wish i had started my weight loss a few months earlier so I could have bulked all the way though this winter. Oh well.

I think I'll start adding cals slowly, and just play it by ear. Jim's suggestion of 250/week is a good one? I'm feeling impatient, would 500/week be too much too fast?

There will be no showing off, that's for sure :hsd:
