I just built a new computer and it freezes up after entering the OS from the motherboard start up menu. The first time it got to the install XP but froze when at the screen where it says press r for repair, enter for install and f3 to quit. That was the first time it froze, after that it doesnt even get to the install screen, it freezes up with just a blank cursor. Also, I thought the problem could be that it says "no hard drive detected" but I switched the hard drive from SATA port 6 to SATA port 1 thinking it would help but it didnt. After that a friend informed that it's just not detecting an IDE hard drive.

I searched the mobo options but to no avail, I found nothing that looks like it could solve the problem. I don't think the problem is that it's not finding the hard drive but something else.

If its of any importance the specs are as follows:

Asus ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

    Thanks in advance.

Need to install ICH10R drivers during the XP boot process. XP doesn't have sata drivers for most chipsets. You should have gotten a floppy drive with that motherboard, or you can slipstream the files to a CD.

I got it to work fine by changing the boot priority to CDrom, and disabling something called Marvell Storage Controller which I'm guessing is the same as raid. The freezing at the windows screen wasn't actually freezing, i just had a usb keyboard. Plugged a PS2 in and it worked fine.
