Building up new Car Audio system, need Recommendations!

I'm looking to redo my entire system, since my current stock Bose ones are junk and the amps are fried. I'm not looking to enter some decibel contest or anything, I just want clear, crisp, and a little bassy.

Currently I'm looking for Component speakers, and I have my eye on this:
    http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...-171A

Wattage is somewhat low but it's fairly new...

    For a head-unit, I'm looking at this:
    http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...-9856

I also have 2 rear speakers that don't really need superior sound quality, just some decent speakers to provide fill sound, any recommendations?

One more - is it advisable to change out all the cables to something like monster cables? If so, what gauge?

The Alpine products I listed above are the kind of stuff I'm looking for, if you have any other recommendations that are like those, please let me know! My friend told me to go with Alpine so that's what I've only been mainly looking at.

    Thanks!

For wires, get a 4awg amp kit. It includes everything you need except speaker wire since youll be running new wires. If you think you might want to upgrade to something bigger down the road, get a 1/0 amp kit so you can save some money. Kicker 1/0 (the best imo) goes for around $100 shipped on eBay. Also check www.knukonceptz.com

No amp(s) or subwoofer? Use chan 1 & 2 for front speakers and bridge 3 & 4 for subwoofer.

Thanks for the help, Yeah I plan on getting one 10" or 12" sub (car isn't very big) plus an Amp later. For now I just want to get the speakers and HU then save money for sub and amp :)

Never heard of those Boston acoustics or Focal component speakers, how do they sound? Their peak power doesn't look very high.

Also someone told me to go with the Alpine SPR-17LS, but the SPS one I linked in the first post is a year newer so.........

Thanks for the help guys, I actually decided to just man up and get the Apline SPX.

Now I just need some whatever speaker for the rear... and amps. I want to use two small amps, what kind should I get and what wattage am I going to be looking at? I only want one 10" or 12" sub too

strong 4ch amp, mp3 head unit. you can probably find better prices looking around because those are the MSRP. You could also step up to a 12" sub. Some may hate on the RF sub, but when you say "a little bassy" I think of RF subs. Kinda boomy, but still sound pretty good.

any interest in old-skool fosgate amps?

    240x4
    60x2
    50m

need to sell them, all work great
the 240 is essentially new in the box still
the 60 is in damn near perfect condition
the 50m is missing a proper end cap (but has two), and is in very good condition

Buying used is an option but I also want it to still be relatively new :p
I'm trying to get a CDA 9857 for 170, is that good?

If you're doing bass in that car, rear speakers are pretty much pointless.

In any case I just got the Alpine CDA 9857 and the SPX177R,

So what's a good Amp to give me a clean sounding system that has power but not too too much? And a good JL sub to go along? :)
Looking into that USAmp mentioned before, nice..........

Ultimate question: Which amp brand? Rockford Fosgate, USAmps, or Kicker?

You can NEVER have too much. How much bass do you want...just enough for a solid band, or colon cleaning bass?

i'd recommend a solid 4 ch. power the fronts, and bridge the rear on the sub. to hell with a JL sub, there's better for less.

    :p

But yeah the amount of bass I want is just "enough," so something that can be heard and has power... but I'm not looking shake the t-tops off my car either :p

    What's "bridging the rear" mean?

a rockford fosgate power 50m would do you juuust fine then
plenty of power at 4ohm for what you want, and you can damn near quadruple the output if you feel like it (1ohm stable, will do 1/2ohm for competition)

hmmmmmm, i wonder if you know anyone who has one for sale.....;)

    quit whoring your shit out.

anyways, bridiging the rear means using the left rear + and right rear - channels to utilize the power from both sides of the amp. Thus "bridging" the channels. This offers more power and is a great option for smaller/budget systems that don't require lots of power from multiple amps.

FREAKING GAY, I got the Alpine SPX177R and CDA9857... theyre not even here yet but I paid for em... and I just found out the new 07 Lineup is coming out from Alpine. That means everything I just bought is ALREADY OUTDATED BEFORE I EVEN GOT A CHANCE TO USE EM :(

i promise, there will be nothing new on these Alpines that you will be missing. they only do upgrades if something major (iPod) comes out. other than that, they just change the gay ass displays and button colors
