i was just wondering if its possible to gain ANY muscle mass while cutting calories or will you just lose all your current muscle. that being said i was wondering if its even worth lifting weights while cutting because if your not going to gain anything whats the point. my last question is WHY cant you gain muscle without taking in excessive calories? just wondering please dont hate.

yes it is possible but very difficult to gain muscle while cutting. When you cut your basically trying to lose as much fat as you can while losing as little muscle as possible in the process. Lifting is great while your cutting as it will help you to maintain the muscle you built while bulking(if your lucky you may even gain some muscle mass).

you are only ever going to gain weight(including muscle) when your calories are in excess of your daily expenditure:) its like trying to build a house with no bricks, if your body doesnt have excess calories it cant use them to build anything.

hope this helped you a bit

just b/c you're cutting doesnt mean you should do light reps of 30.

I still hit my muscles hard but not like when i'm bulking. I go all out on my compound lifts. Best bang for the buck when you're on a calorie restricted diet.

    not an isolation lift

compound lift examples could be bench press, squats, deadlifts, military press, etc.

isolation lifts are leg extensions, calf raises, curls, tricep pushdowns, etc.
