Figure id make a thread about it. ive been getting advice in another thread. SO i have never built one before so i will probably ask noob questions. right now im looking into ar15.com equipment exchange thanks to some help from y2kaccord. what uppers do you recommend is that what i should look for COMPLETE UPPER? and COMPLETE LOWER? is there anything else i need? ill prolly post here to see if something is a good deal or not since i dont know.

you can build both yourself, now I dont know how mechanically inclined you are but it isnt to hard, uppers are a bit more complicated to build, need more special tools and special insert for a vice (ways around this but for a n00b it's probably best to use the actual tools. I'de recomend getting a complete upper for your first one, and building the lower, the lower is easier to assemble and no specialized tools really required. For stripped lowers to buy cheapest yet not crappy reciever to buy is probably Stag arms like $90, or you can get a RRA govt marked lower for $140ish, then you will need internals again first build I would buy the complete lower parts kit which will be a package of all parts that go on the lower reciever minus stock/buffer/buffer tube, cost of this $40-65 depending which one you go with, that leaves the stock, I dunno what kind you wanna go with, can probably find a used A2 stock with buffer for $30ish or you can go all the way upto a magpul 93b for $220. Theres a couple good walk throughs with pictures on arfcom for assembling the lower.. Now you just need a complete upper and B/C/CH I like RRA and Bushmaster, but theres other good ones out there too, gotta figure out what you want what style upper reciever, what length barrel, make sure to go with chrome lined.

dont really know what size i need or should go with. why chrome lined is there a special advantage to a chrome lined? how do i know if the upper is complete. ill show you guys the style im looking for. Can you not just buy a pre assembled lower?

chrome lined is better, lasts longer, corrosion resistant. Basically if its got the upper reciever, barrel and handguards on it its complete all assembled, generally people will indicate if it does or doesnt include the B/C/CH. You can buy preassembled lower, I was just steering you towards the cheaper route, you can assemble a complete lower on your own for in the nieghborhood of $230ish including shipping for varios parts and ffl fee, already built complete lower will run 280ish new + ffl fees.

16" barrel. m4/car style stock, if you plan to do optics then that'll work but if you only plan to use iron sights better off with an a2/a1 style upper.

the one you linked has the detachable carryhandle with sights on it, you can mount optics on it too. How much it'll cost ya will vary depending on brands and where from, arfcom equipment exchange is a good place to buy from but you gotta be quick people grab up the good deals quick.
    M4 style new, fair price

If your watch the used section can find even better deals pop up but those are the ones guys grab quick I think some guys just sit in some of those forums constantly hitting the refresh button lol.

carry handle is detachable to put optics on carry handles are more money, I'de just go with a straight out flat top since you want optics and if you want iron sights get an ARMS or some other type up flip up sights.

Thats a good lower, price isn't bad, after figuring in shipping and ffl fee ya may wanna consider looking at local shop if you have any good ones, might be like $25 more local but after shipping, and ffl fee evens out.

$500 with chrome lined barrel... A1 and A2 uppers the carry handle isn't detachable, you can still mount a scope ontop of the carry handle though.. I think you can find better on arfcom though.

Only way to get around FFL transfer fee is buying it face to face, illegal to send a lower reciever direct to the person has to goto a FFL.

Well you know I have no problem using iron sights, some people like some sort of optics all personal preference, see alot of pics of troops in iraq using eotechs and aimpoints.
