Has anyone on here built an AK?
Would it be cheaper to build one or just buy one used or new?
I bought a WASR-10 for 300+tax at a local store. Probably won't get much cheaper than that.
Was that used or new?
Used, but it was in very good shape and the magazine fit tight and it has no trigger slap. I guess I got lucky with mine.
I built one, but that was because AMD's weren't available ready to go. You can save money, but the cost is negated with tools.
building it yourself (and buying all the tools etc) is probably only worth it if you are going to be building a bunch of them. Otherwise, either have a smith build it or get a factory rifle.
You wont be breaking even unless your building atleast 5 of them or so.
nah you can build them way cheap. look around online for a build party near you.
If you decide to build your own, I have a jig Im not using anymore and some leftover flats
$100 for the jig and $40 for 4 Tapco flats if youre interested
if you find a build party nearby it can be a great deal to build your own. Most of the guys that do it have all the tools and know how everything works.
Link to assembly instructions?
I just want to see what's involved.
I shared a video, but its floating around somewhere.
http://ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=4&f=51 Look through the stickies there should give ya an idea of what it takes.
There is alot involved in putting one togather.
I still have that how to build an AK video hosted if anyone needs a copy.
I'll watch it.
You can build one for about the same price as buying one, and it is a lot of fun
