Is it more important to have a fast processor or a fast video card?

    to edit video.

    cpu.

to play hd video, combination of both, but most avg video cards can play hd vids just fine.

Having a quad ore CPU instead of a Dual Core will make a significant difference.

Id go with what the first guy said, the new i7 are insane, and for gfx card I would suggest a Raedon HD card, Never used myself but all my friends I know that use them say that quality of there video great when editing, recording and what not.
