Are there any good BTX motherboards out yet? I searched google and newegg but didn't find much.

I haven't found any for sale, but the Gateway 700GR I just picked up has one. Real nice 2 120mm fans, real quite. no CPU fan....

do you have a pic of the gateway?

the presence/absence of a cpu fan, btw, doesn't mean it's btx.

It is a BTX. I read about it on their site.

So is the BTX form factor a rearranged and flipped over ATX (ie if you are looking at the front of a tower, the mobo will be mounted to the lefthand wall instead of the righthand wall?) Or is it just rearranged for better airflow?

it is rearranged for better cooling and still sits on the right hand side

Thanks. The pics @ TomsHardware lead me to believe it was going to be on the opposite wall now.:eek3:

    Pics of the system here:

I like the BTX design. It seems to cool well and is very quiet.

This system blows my P4 2.4C/865PE/1GB PC3200 setup out of the water.
Visual Studio absouluty flys, as does photoshop.

I put my 36GB SATA Raptor and a 2nd 250GB HDD (had to put a PCI IDE card in since the board only has one IDE port :squint:

    536GB + 250GB backup USB2 drive.... :bigthumb:

I am at Intel ICC right now, they are saying that there will be no BTX until the end of the month.

The motherboard will be mounted on the opposite wall. The board is rearranged for better airflow as well as easier access to the northbridge (straight lines).

CW85: I want to see pictures of the inside and of this board. Then I will believe you.

So why the switch to the opposite wall? Will current PCI card work with BTX boards (those that come with PCI slots).

...I believe so, jsut that everything would face upwards. kinda like the heatsink to a video card would face the top of the case. Kinda makes it better, since the airflow coming from the intake proc fan will come over a few of the cards too...

Then stick with ATX... its not like ATX is going away any time soon. BTX seems to be an Intel only thing anyways.

Glad to hear that. It really never made sense why the PCI cards faced downward.
