so there is a topic about bruce in OT:

'Bruce Lee would get crushed at most bar fights
    I don't understand you people...'

i am wondering how you think Bruce Lee would do in MMA... how would he do in his weight class, and would he even be able to handle some of the heavier guys?

He was strong, agile, fast, had natural ability and trained really hard I guess he would have done alright in MMA.

Oh yeah main forum martial arts/combat sport threads are full of idiots and trolls.

If he doesn't train the ground game he gets steam rolled by a wrestler.

his jeet kun do philosophy is what MMA is all about... take the best of all arts and use them to your advantage. keep it simple and effective. throw away the styles and patterns that hinder.

we'll truly never know how good or bad he'll be.

I think we had a conversation about this before, he was kind of small, so he'd probably be fighting at 145/155 so he'd have some wicked competition. In any case he would probably do alright.

He was fucking fast, but had bad conditioning and his training wasn't up to par with modern fighters. I think he'd do really well in his weight class if he prepared the same way modern fighters do.

It's impossible to compare him to modern fighters. It's like comparing Wilt to Dwight Howard etc.

I heard he would go for eyes and crotches and talk people out.

probably, supposedly he trained 3 hours a day. martial arts may have been his passion, but he was also a full time actor and celebrity. if he was gonna be fighting today, i'm sure he'd be the guy training anywhere from 6 to 12 hours a day. And i'm sure he could do it. I had a friend who trained 12 hours of muay thai a day, and if he could do it.Bruce Lee could too.

You guys want to know the truth? Bruce Lee sucks, he always sucked. Jean Claude Van Damne would fucking wreck his world.

Bruce Lee was incredible. He obviously had figured out the importance of MMA. Not just a traditional style...WHEN IT CAME TO A FIGHT.
I think he would do great. Some people are destined for greatness..Given todays world he would be that much better.

i heard he was starting to incorporate ground game/ submissions into JKD before he died.

also, a real street fight w/ bruce lee would probably look way different than a movie. probably a lot of vital area strikes kinda like krav maga maybe?

I'd put my money on Faber every fucking time.

Say what you want about Bruce Lee, good or bad, his aura of invincibility went untested.

    :werd:

You would think there would be at least one video of his feats or even a video of him actually fighting.
