He filmed the actual fight scenes based on the rough idea of a hero who has to fight his way to the top of a pagoda with a master of a different style on each level, but died before he could actually do the movie. the rest of the story was written around those scenes and that basic idea, and patched together using a double after his death.

It is Game of Death, it was supposed to be his best movie. Everything he believed about martial arts and life was supposed to be put into this movie, but died before they could finish filming. And now the movie that you will see is actually horrible. If you get Turner Movie Classics they show a show about that whole story a lot, look out for it.

^ They piece together some rough footage to give you an idea of how it should have looked.

The part I like about the original footage of the pagoda scenes in Game of Death is when he talks to the fighters, I love how Bruce Lee would use 60s American slang with his crazy Chinese accent

Also, I just want to point out that Dan Inosanto was BAD ASS in his sequence.

No, I'd think he'd try to make it bigger, better, and just kill any realism.

You can't remake Game of Death. It's a classic, done by a master.

    Flawless.

You and I both know that the status of the original has not saved it from being remade.

Sadly, it's true. Hollywood is running out of ideas that don't involve remakes.

    It goes deeper than that.
    TCM?
    House of Wax?
    Please...

Seriously tho, there is nothing wrong with remaking a foreign movie for an American audience.

Not thrilled about this turn to horror movies all of a sudden...

Looks like there might be one or two worth watching in this new crop of movies coming out on the 22nd... Maybe the Interpreter for a little suspense and Kung Fu Hustle for action. A friend of mine saw Kung Fu Hustle the other day and he came back raving and ranting about CGI and great kung fu scenes -- something about the guy looking like he was Road Runner -- then proceeded to act them out and tried to get me to join in. I think I'm going to see this one just to understand how he got so brainwashed!

The Shaw Bros reissues are trickling out right now.

Gordon Liu is not exactly on the same page as Bruce Lee, but he is still good shit.
