I did DL today for the first time since high school, using a trap bar. I had plenty more juice in me, but my fuckign bitch ass left hand couldnt hold the fucking weight.

I'm going to start an intensive regimen of lefty jerking off, but other than that...what can I do to ensure this never happens again?

    Start working on your grip.

read daballer2005 post. Plate pinches, holds, if you can get your hands on a 2 inch axel or get some tyler grips.

static holds, plate pinches, plate loaded grip machine, hammer curls, reverse preacher curls. rack pulls helped me a little, I'm adding them back into my routine for DLs

just use straps unless you compete or plan to compete in something that doesn't allow them

I never did any of the aforementioned stuff. I just kept lifting heavier. Seemed to work.

Wish I had two of those grip machines and only have access to a 17.5kg hex db ...

But yes unless your grip is your key target, just use straps. But you'll not grow in grip strength if you do of course. I tend to try double front and then mixed. Then some rack pulls of extreme weight and try and hang. Also some basic hangs, two arm or single for grip.
