I weighed (a very fat) 184 on the first day of my gym membership(9/14) and I weigh 184 today. I've been busting my ass 4 days a week lifting + hour spinning classes 1-3 days/wk. All of my lifts are consistently increasing, I'm getting stronger, but my weight doesn't reflect that.

My first priority was losing fat, so I'm not worried about bulking up or getting bigger, but I thought all this activity would help me lose weight...and i'm not doing that either.

    Whats going on?

Do you look leaner? If so, you're burning fat and gaining muscle - which is awesome, so keep at it.

If not ... How well are you tracking what you eat?

If you're tracking how much you eat?

is it more then what you're burning? (if that answer is yes, then that's why)

Your newbie muscle gains may be interfering (strictly from a weight #s perspective) with the fat that you are losing.

Basically, there is a nice window of opportunity to gain muscle and lose fat very effectively when you first start working out. As time goes on doing both at the same time gets harder and you have to pay much more attention to diet and such.

Your diet does not look all that bad. People might nitpick but we've seen MUCH MUCH worse.

Take pics in the mirror every couple weeks/month and in a few months if you're not looking any better then there's an issue you need to address. But we cannot diagnose an issue that might not exist. If you look better you look better and we can't tell that from here.

edit: i didn't add calories or anything on that because I can't read a fucking thing besides most of the food choices w/o macros

I think I do look better, but I wont take/post pics until 12/14(3 months). I just thought my weight would also reflect that. Your explanation makes alot of sense though, thanks.

I just thought I had read here that gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time were mutually exclusive...but I guess that statement doesnt include fatso n00bs

you really have to go by the mirror when the scale stops moving either direction.

I don't think its mutually exclusive but you've got to find a diet that will work for you. diets are very individual.

You don't have to post post for us, but for the love of god please take pics for yourself

Hide them in your porn folder or something so nobody can see them-- but anybody who has made a decent transformation who didn't have before pics REALLY REALLY regrets it.

dont judge your self with stupid scales unless you are trying to make a weigh in for some sport event such as boxing or powerlifting. use your mirror as your judge.... and focus on pinching your stomach skin and making that amount smaller... to paper thin :)
