Broly's: Is my chest workout overkill??

    Bench press 8 x 3
    Pec Deck 10 x 3
    This thing 8 x 3

    Decline DB press 10 x 3
    Decline Fly 10 x 3
    Flat DB press 10 x 3
    Flat DP fly 10 x 3
    Incline bench press 8 x 3

    As I'm typing this it really does seem like alot of shit. How would you suggest I modify it?

    Way Too much.
    You've got 9 sets of decline movement, you dont even really need 1.
    9 sets of fly movements.. You should have 3-4.
    6 sets of flat movements.. Again, too much.. seeing a pattern yet?

    Pick 4 excercises max, and do 3-4 sets.

    I use
    4 sets incline db
    4 sets bb flat bench
    4 sets dips
    4 sets cable flies.

    and thats still alot.

    so is 5 exercises with about 5-8 reps each too much?

    How many sets? I usually do 4 exercises, one exercise has 4 sets, the other 3 have 3.

    if you really have to ask if that workout is overkill, then you have a lot to learn. Read some books or something or go to bodybuilding.com and read some articles.

    I'll usually do 4 sets of 6-8 with

    DB Flat Bench, DB Incline Press, BB Decline.

    then 3 sets of incline flies with some dips..

    It's one of my fav. Hammer Strength machines. I won't leave my current gym until I find a gym that has this among other things.

    ha i feel like an idiot, cant believe i forgot to say that part...

    i do 5 exercises with 5 sets each, and i target for about 5-8 reps per set

    i only do one muscle group per day by the way:
    mon - chest
    tues - back
    wed - tris
    thurs - bis
    fri - shoulders
    sat - legs

    so, 6 exercises consisting of 5 sets of 5 reps is considered overkill as well?

    My current chest routine every 5th day:

    5x5 BB flat bench
    5x5 BB incilne bench
    5x5 BB decline bench

    5 minutes break

    5x5 DB flat bench
    5x5 DB incline bench
    5x5 DB decline bench

    how can I improve it to maximize muscle growth?
    I'm a noob at this.

    my workout is kind of similar to yours.... but instead of the last 3 things you do, i would just alternate every other time you do chest. for example, say you do chest on monday. on the first monday, do BB flat bench, on the next monday do DB flat bench... and instead of doing the 3 same exercises except with DB, do stuff like flies or alternate dumbell presses or something

    wow a whole day for just bis and another day for tris? put those days together.....u shouldnt be doing 5 tri/bi excercises in a day

    Is that too much on those muscles? i've been having pretty good progress with this routine lately so its hard for me to justify combining any of them into the same days.... and it works out with my time schedule
