broke a finger, how to stay in shape?!

    going to be getting surgery on my finger on tuesday :wtc:

    anyways how should i stay in shape? i dont think i can grip any barbells or anything

    cant do pull ups
    not sure if i can do push ups

    unless its 1 handed which would be whack cause one side would be all buff and other whack as shit :rofl:


    right now all i have is jog/abs, maybe pec fly machine?

    maybe i can squat? :o

    anyone got experience?

    which bone did you break?

    I broke my 5th metacarpal and found ways to do tons of shit in the gym.

    my pinky, its in a splint and very fragile now, gota get surgery and then probably gona be in a cast :hs:

    im assuming pec dec is the thing with the 2 pads in front of you and its the chest work out? whats hammer strength chest press, is that the bench press machine where u sit?

    havent used a machine in ages :hs:

    need a back workout, no pull ups/deadlifts is gona be a bitch

    They make lifting hooks. Maybe you can use that for back.

    or front squats....I did those with a broken hand and half my lower arm and hand in a cast...

    I still did most of my lifts with a broken 5th metacarple that required a plate and 7 screws. There was a gap between when I broke it and when I had my surgery done(had to schedule a time when I could make it back from school) of about 1.5 weeks, but I still made the most of it. The only lifts I couldn't do were heavy deads(used straps) and hang cleans. I could still do bench but it required me to rotate my right hand so my fingers were almost perpendicular in direction to my left hand. I could only go as heavy as 225lbs on that lift so I compensated with reps.

    I also lifted fresh off of a tendon re-attachment to the distal phalange on my left hand. This was much much harder to work around. I had to tie my hand to weights with my workout rag and I had to go even lighter than I did when my hand was broken. I will take broken bones ANYYYYYYY day over tendon surgeries. Those fuckers hurt like you wouldn't believe.

    i did push ups last night :rofl:

    gona hit the squat rack today probably :bowdown: and see what else i can do, i dont thinkim gona bench with no spot though :o

    My buddy shot himself in the hand with his Tactical XD and still found a way almost immediately after, be creative.

    wow i got kicked out of my college weight room cause i had an injury :ugh: i ended up just jogging :o

    was planning on squating and experimenting with machines

    I think you should be able to grip okay. At least until your hand gets better.

    As most said, you should still be able to squat. Zercher squats is an option as well as zercher shrugs.

    I still lifted even when my finger was healing in a splint. Bad idea. :o
