I am thinking about signing up for BPL (broadband over power line) from PPL here in the Lehigh Valley, PA. This is a relatively new technology the PPl has been testing for about 18 months.

Does anyone have it and/or an opinion about it?

I'm going this route because i can't get two way cable or dsl....

I've heard about this somewhere. Doesn't it offer speeds that are greater than a lot of residential DSL and Cable companies are offering?

Your throughput rates will depend on the quality and style of wiring in your home. Depending on your type of wiring, it may suck ass :(

I think it's a pretty good idea. They were testing it here in Northern Virginia for a while. I don't know if it is still going on or not, but I don't think it is something that is going to catch on.

Think about places where a lot of Electircity is being used (ie NY, Calf.) and the amount brown outs and black outs that they get. Do you think adding a lot more strain on those lines will help that?

It's a cool thing, but I don't see it being practical here.
