I want a car that's inexpensive, VERY Reliable, and gets good gas mileage.

How does the Saturn Ion (2006 or 2007) stack up in the rankings?

Yeah. But the Cobalt is a much better car overall.

I'd go for the Cobalt, much nicer overall. But they both meet your criteria just fine.

why not look at Civic or Corolla, if you want very reliable, I wouldnt go with a GM product.

    Ecotech FTW.

But seriously, go Cobalt. The Ion is a heap. The interior is a step down from the Cobalts, the center mounted gauge cluster is ghey. ANd to top it all off the chassis on the ION is not as stiff as the cobalts, and has a longer wheel base, which makes it handle much worse.

Besides the cobalt just looks better.

    I just traded in a 2005 Saturn Ion 2 for a GTO.

I have to say that the Saturn was the most reliable car I've ever owned. Good ride and good mileage as well.

I only had it for slightly over a year but I put almost 30,000 miles on it during that time. Very good car IMO.

It's sad -- and stupid -- how Saturn became GM's most successful and efficient subsidiary, and then GM decided to dismantle Saturn's unique management structure and replace it with the same dysfunctional GM clusterfuck that was the reason the rest of the company was going to shit. Not surprisingly, Saturn has also gone to shit. And around 1999 or so, the Saturn coupe actually looked pretty cool, and was fairly reliable too. So much for that.

    :werd:

Its sad the way the GM is restructuring their brands.

They are making Saturn the youth oriented performance division?

And making Pontiac their high end cutting edge design performance division. :hsd:

They need to focus back on Chevy brands and phase out the other marques, and start bringing over alot of the cool Vauxhalls, Opels, and Holdens, and bring some spice back to the US market.
