So my M&P Full size 17rd 9mm is less than a month old, and has had less than 100 rounds through it... I went out to shoot it yesterday and the mag kept falling out of the gun...then i realized i could pull the mag out the bottom without using the mag release...I tried every one of the 4 mags i have and the same thing happened every time. Has this happened to anyone else??? I guess its already time to send it back to S&W...maybe i bought the wrong kinda gun :hs:

Odd, that is a common problem with the first ones but I thought it was fixed.

Very common problem with them. Actually one of the main reasons I didn't get one. Everyone kept claiming it was being fixed but I found thread after thread about the same problem.

The NC department of corrections bought a shitload of them, and had to send all of em back because of the mag problem. :mamoru:

You got a light, or weak, mag catch. Call S&W, they'll send you a new one.

This really is not a big deal. Its an easy fix. Its just annoying.

MPH is right towards the end of those problems... so yeah, you probably got part of that bad batch.

The gun might be 1 month old TO YOU, but if you look at the spent casing in the box... its probably got a build date of 2006.

There seems to be an awful lot of problems with these M&P's. I guess you roll the dice when you get one, and if you use it for home defense or daily carry then you also roll the dice with your life. I'm not sure why there are so many sack riders with this thing but it even makes the XD look good.

People sack ride it because they got the ergos perfectly.
Its sucks they've had so many problems with it. Its a good thing they're so willing to take care of them, otherwise they'd be in a deep shithole.

There are still way more guns out there without any problems, than guns that do have problems.
You just hear more about the ones with problems because people voice negativity more, and even more so on the internet.

The ergo's are debatable but the problems they're having are not. I'll stick with my Glocks

Yep, but they should have taken care of it before they started selling them with more testing. Now they already have a bad rep

I'm worried hearing about all these problems with the M&P. It makes me happy that I have a 1911 as well. I've never had this problem (or any of the others), but that doesn't mean I couldn't in the future.

My understanding is that for most people a trip back to the factory fixes the gun for good. It shouldn't happen in the first place but if the gun proves reliable after repair I don't see what the problem is. I've even had a revolver that was defective out of the box, you've got to test everything. It happens. Just look at the glock 22 even

If that's "all" they have to complain about the M&P, I'm still getting one. That's sounds like it's such an easy thing to fix and I wouldn't get hung up about it at all. I competed with two guys this weekend that shot very well with M&P's.

If you were telling me there were catastrophic failures with the safety, or slide or key components like the extractor, then that's something to worry about. Sounds like it may be a bad mag catch/release design is all.
