looking at these two vehicles it appears I can get them for around the same price. The Sentra for a little cheap. It would be the base 1.8l A4 Sentra with no options. what would be the better pick for a good reliable car?

well, besides on how it handles, what kind of reliablity is seen on these cars. I read that the 2.5 model has alot of problems. but what about the 1.8l?

echo is ugly IMHO,. the hatch isn't too bad, but I dont think it's available in the states yet. It has a great little engine and is DAMN good on gas though.

I have '01 Sentra SE(2.0L) and so far its been a pretty good car. I think price wise you will get more car for your money with the Sentra.

Actually, the Echo filter is very easy to get to, and the Sentras are an arm burning bitch.

Your ass should be kicked for even comparing the two cars.

why is that? both priced in the same range. bot a small sedan. I know which one you think is better but I'm looking at reliability as a major factor here.

    The 1.8
The 2.5s are rare here. Don't they shake the shit outta the car? I thought I read that somewheres.....

    Luke,

What were your reasons for not buying used again? :hs:

you can get one a car with like 30k miles which is practically NEW... for a lot less than buying new...

you can finance it, it'll still be under warranty etc..

no point in buying new :hs:

buying new helps well espically since he'll be the first to beat on it.

sometime, financing/leasing can be cheaper new also.

    in all honesty..
most cars these days are reliable enough to be bought used. even shitty brands known for being unreliable :hs:

First one to beat on it? that' such a silly excuse to drop an extra 6-8 grand on the damn thing. If you finance more $ at a slightly smaller rate, you still end up paying more in the end :hs:

Interest is interest.. the more expensive the car is, the more you get raped.

You buy one barely used, with a warranty, very easy to find a clean one, especially in the class of cars he's looking at.. most people that buy small economy cars are not beating on them.. so if people buy used mustangs and have no issues with them, why would an econobox that was driven by a 60 year old woman and serviced by the dealer from day one have issues?

Sentras, Corollas, Civics all last an easy 100k miles without any issues.. 200k with moderate $ invested My brother has a 99 corolla that gets abused beyond belief with 100k miles.. he is still on original spark plugs.. changes oil at 6k mile intervals.. it has still yet to have a problem.

He paid 8k for it 4 years ago.. with 50k miles or so.. and it was in a previous accident so it wasn't perfect.. and it STILL hasn't given him problems..

If he buys new, and wants to sell the car in 1-3 years, he'll lose 6-8 grand.. plus the interest that he was paying.. what's the point?

if you're looking for cheap reliable transportation.. why in the heck would you buy new? :hs: cheap and reliable = perfect used econobox..
