As I mentioned in the show summary post, last night a disturbing development was brought to my attention: namely that HS Precision, a manufacturer of high-end rifles had printed a glowing endorsement/recommendation letter from Lon Horiuchi. Here’s the actual back cover of the HS Precision catalog, complete with the letter. Click the image to make it larger.

Now, HS Precision is free to run their business as they want, and to receive endorsements or pay people to endorse their products, no matter how I feel about it. It’s their right to conduct their business as they please.

Going hand in hand with that is my right to say that printing an endorsement from Lon Horiuchi, the sniper who managed to shoot an innocent woman holding her baby in the face - the same Lon Horiuchi who Jeff Cooper wanted charged with murder - is a poor business decision, and a business decision that guarantees that I will never buy a rifle from HS Precision.

Honestly, I think this is in incredibly poor taste - no matter what you think about the guy, he’s controversial enough that a ringing endorsement from him is going to go a long way towards damaging your credibility amongst the pro-gun community.

I’m very disappointed with the lack of judgment from HS Precision - and I can assure you that if I’m in the market for a good rifle, it won’t be an HS Precision rifle. If they were to print a retraction and run away from this endorsement, then I would change my tune, but until then - buy FN Herstal.

Don't think this will turn out well for HS. This has already been posted over at Free Republic and they are having a field day with it.

People worry to much about stupid bullshit.

Adolf Hitler supported/endorsed a lot of the stuff I own. Big fucking deal.

  5. Talk about a stupid business decision...

Nevermind, just Wiki'd him. Dude sounds trigger happy as fuck. I would agree that using his endorsement was a poor decision, however, I personally have no problem with HSP and will continue to do business with them. They haven't wronged me yet.

I hope you're not implying this Horiuchi guy is worse than Hitler.

I'm sure HS did this because of the guys position at the time. 99% of people have no idea who he is, and will say "Well if they're good enough for the FBI, they're good enough for me."

Timothy McVeigh didn't like Horiuchi either.

For the five months following the Waco inferno, Timothy McVeigh worked at gun shows and handed out free cards printed up with Horiuchi's name and address, "in the hope that somebody in the Patriot movement would assassinate the sharpshooter". He wrote hate mail to the sniper, suggesting that "what goes around, comes around", and debated putting aside his plan to target the Murrah Building to instead simply target Horiuchi, or a member of his family.[7]

He forgot rule #4: Be sure of your target and what's behind it.

Sounds like he hit his target, it went through the target, through a door, and hit a woman holding a child, killing the woman.

I'm going to play Devil's advocate with my faint knowledge of the situation and say that she really shouldn't have been in the house in the first place.

If someone buys me a McMillan stock I'll take my HS Precision off and burn it. With video proof, of course.

Not sure. Like I said, I didn't read too in depth as to why the FBI was even there, but I would think it would not be wise to get into a stand-off situation with them. Even if you are 100% in the right, I'd opt to surrender and fight it out in court. Pissing off a bunch of heavily armed FBI and ATF agents just doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

If he just got trigger happy without approval to do so; well then, fuck him.

  19. That's not quite what I was getting at.

After they've already killed your dog and your son, whether you try to piss them off or not is kind of a moot point. :hsugh:

I'm just sorry he and his buddy only killed one agent.

Like I said, I haven't read into the whole story, so I'm just spewing my one sided opinion.

And believe me, WMD knows far too well the fuck ups that the ATF and FBI pull. I put those departments on the same level of care as the Chipotle-induced shit I just took.

I like how everyone comes to the defense of an apparent neo-nazi that makes us all look like crazy back woods retarded fucks.

Horiuchi seems like a pretty retarded choice to endorse a product primarily sold to a segment of the population that is (rightfully) generally distrustful of the federal government though.

The fact that you don't like his views makes it ok to murder his family, right?
