Jay Cutler's Second
Qhile readin the article on Jay Cutler's quad workouts, "Thighs Matters," in March 2006 issue of FLEX, something caught my eye. Quoting Jay: "I don't go superheavy because I don't wrap and I don't want to damage my legs...I built a lot of size in my early years with back squats, but now I don't like all that pressure on my spine..." It's comments and mentalities like these by top-tier bodybuilders that make one realize none of them will catch or beat Ronnie Coleman at the Olympia. Jay, do you think tha Ronnie minds wrapping his knees or that Ronnie minds the pressure of 600 pounds on his spine four weeks out from Olympia? Hell no, Ronnie doesn't mind it - in fact, he loves it because he knows that nobody else has the nuts he does to do what he does, therefore nobody will catch him. I hope you enjoy second, Jay, because until Ronnie's done competing, that's the best you'll get.

I thought he was gonna praise Jay, then he took a turn.. :mamoru:

Good genetics + lots of roids means you get away with a lot of shitty habits.

my nga.. i cant stand the people who think that after 10 years of hard hard work they could just step up and compete with the ifbb mass monsters.. it just won't happen. you could be the most dedicated human being in the world, but these guys have a gift. you are either born with it or you're not.

that's not to say someone cant be a big bodybuilder, but to even dream of being in contention with ronnie, jay, gunter -- these dude's have something that 99.9% of humans don't.

Well..that's not exactly what I was saying. I was saying that most pros sound like idiots about training because they don't have to pay as much attention to it, or to diet, with the massive amounts of juice and other hormonal help they use. That's why we have stuff like the persistent "one muscle group a day split" routine myth.

they definately do have to pay attention to diet... especially the closer they go to competition. the roids aren't going to magically make them huge if they don't eat or workout hard...

When he starts to diet, Mr. Coleman usually weighs about 320 pounds, with an estimated 8% of it body fat -- still less than half of what's normal for an adult male. If all goes as planned, he'll drop 60 pounds over the 12 weeks.

The basic daily menu plan -- consumed in six meals -- features a huge quantity of lean meats (up to 5 pounds) and liquids (around 2 gallons); a moderate amount of starchy carbohydrates, such as rice and potatoes; and vitamin and mineral supplements to fill in the nutritional gaps.

Did I say they don't have to workout hard or diet at all? No. But steroids do give you leeway with training frequency and muscle-sparing when dieting. A natural will have to be far more careful of those things than a user.

Yeah, the steroids wont do anything without eating and working out.

But the steroids also allow them to break the rules of normal physiology. It also means they break the normal "rules" of bodybuilding etc... for example they are not as likely to suffer from overtraining from doing excessive workouts.

if you don't see variability even among the top BBers you are BLIND. diet, drugs, training aside, there is still only one ronnie. if anybody could achieve what he has, why then aren't there more ronnie's on stage?

It's subjective though. Does Ronnie have a lot of mass? Sure. Is he attractive? Fuck no. I think he looks awful, especially lately with the massive gut. Cutler? :barf: Even Cormier.

The good ones still have some symmetry, like Dexter Jackson and so on.

do you have any reading comprehension or are you completely retarded?

1) the top tier of pros have access to the same nutritionists, trainers, diet, juice, workouts etc. etc.
2) why is it then, do you STILL see a huge dropoff between the top 5, and even moreso the next 5, BBers when the factors mentioned above are the same? what accounts for these differences?
3) "people" vary, but it's not "superior/inferior genetics". WTF statement is that? it is because of genetics there are variabilities among individuals and populations. AGAIN, where the hell do these differences come from if not from genetics?
4) lastly i never expressed my preference on ronnie's physique, i just pointed out that he is ahead of the rest by a good margin and to show that training, diet, steroids, alone are not enough to explain his accomplished physique

no you couldnt. this is absolutely ridiculous.

Ronnie and Jay do not have superhuman gentics. Give them the credit they deserve for all the time spent in the gym and money spent on drugs.
