Ok...so I'm usually pretty good with new toys and all, but I must be doing something wrong. I have searched the manual, but i must be missing something.

I'm loooking just to take some pics of some things just to play with it and get used to it. Basically stuff I'm selling online.

so i'm in my basement. I have it set on Auto.
the flash pops up, but dosn't go off. I can't figure out why it won't go off. It is obvious that it needs it as the pics are coming out dark.

    Here are just some examples.

    EXIF data shows:

Flash = Flash fired, auto mode, return light detected

and i can see the reflection in the first pic, top left on the tube....

Put a real flash on there and be done with it.

But if it doesn't fire off a hotshoe, than your camera is teh broken, or a setting isn't set.

Pick your self up a SB600 or (if monies allow a SB800)

    World of difference

edit: To find out if your flash is fireing, take a pic of your own face

not looking to put a "real" flash on it yet. I just got the thing. I'd like to learn how to use it before i put more money into it. :)

I think it may be broken....because i don't see what i am doing wrong.

Good to hear. Best buy is usually pretty good for returns.

You should call into Nikon Tech support just to bitch them out anyway ... it's kinda fun to yell at them :wiggle:
