Been look'n for a new carry piece for awhile. Wanted a loaded SA Champion, but couldnt find one for a reasonable price. So I stopped tonight and found this they took in on trade. SA V10 compact .45 ported barrel, pretty nice gota decent deal on it. My first .45, always had smaller caliber pistols largest thing I ever had was a .38 up untill now. anyways its pretty sweet:wiggle:

:dunno: what makes you say that?

"The Springfield V10 uses an ordinary recoil spring and an ordinary recoil spring guide. There’s nothing fancy here, because recoil is partially controlled by the ported barrel. The V10 barrel, per its name, has two rows of five ports in the forward portion of the barrel, arranged in a “V” if envisioned from the front or rear. These exhaust ports vent the propellant gases up, forcing the pistol down, countering recoil."

    less recoil is good

Less recoil would be good, but the flash from the ports might ruin your night vision, should you ever discharge your weapon at night. :dunno: Most people tend to stay away from ported/compensated guns for a carry gun.

the gasses can also burn you if you are firing the pistol close to your body

yeah, my friend had a .357 S&W revolver with 3 ports in it, its was hella firery at night. I think its like driving at night you learn not to stare at the on coming lights so you dont get blinded.

    Ported barrel

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Jump to: navigation, search
In firearms the term ported relates to holes that are precision drilled into the forward part of the barrel and slide on pistols, to divert a portion of the gases during shooting in order to reduce the tendency of the revolver, rifle or pistol to flip upwards.
Porting is most commonly used on shotguns, where recoil makes rapid firing difficult. Indeed, even single shots of magnum strength loads alone are uncomfortable for all but the most seasoned shooters.
GLOCK has porting as an option on most of its pistols. Porting has obvious advantages for faster follow-up shots, especially for 3 - round burst operation.
In most instances, porting does nothing to enhance the accuracy of follow-up shots but rather make larger calibers more bearable.

naturally the gun will kick up.. if gasses are shooting up, the gun will want to counter that and move down.. wanting to go up, wanting to go down, the gun stays relatively level :hs:
