I bought a Ruger 10/22 tonight from Outdoor World for $239, it's the 18 1/2" walnut stock "deluxe" edition.

The only thing is that the only one they had left was the display model and it was in PERFECT condition except for one little deep nick in the side of the wooden stock, they wouldn't give me a discount or anything but I waited for 1 fucking hour with a ticket in my hand before it was my turn so I wasn't going to leave there empty handed, so I bought it anyways despite the little nick in the wood. Anyone know what I can do to get rid of the nick or at least make it less noticeable?

I don't pick it up until next Tuesday, damn 5 day waiting period. What are some recommended hopups, modifications, accessories, aftermarket parts, etc. I should buy for it? I do plan to use it for local competitions. I already bought 2 spare mags and a sling with mounts.

Here's a pic of what mine looks like:

Add a cheap .22 scope, Weaponkraft buffer, Volquartsen hammer, and some tlc with the dremel on the trigger group, and that puppy will be set!

www.hawktecharms.com is where I get my 10/22 stuff.

I was just about to ask where to buy all that stuff, thanks.

Any other places where I can browse 10/22 mods?

jesus, I didn't realize how expensive 10/22 mods are... $160 for the cheapest aftermarket barrel, $190 for the cheapest aftermarket stock .

The cheapest 10/22 they had was a black synthetic stock one for $169, but I wanted wood.

And all the aftermarket stocks i've seen so far have been like $190+... no way i'm going to spend that much. I'm just going to use this for fun and occasionally some local competitions, i'd rather take the almost $200 i'd spend on a stock and put it towards my Beretta M9 that I plan to get in the next few weeks :bigthumb:.

I like the Deluxe stock though, it's really nice and I don't think i'm going to change it out.

What can I do to get that little nick out of it though or to make it so you can't even see it?

Will that make it look like there was never any mark or anything there?

This is really pissing me the fuck off. Because of the 5 day wait period I won't be able to pick it up until next Tuesday and i'm sitting here regretting that I ever purchased it instead of just having them order me a new one and i'm seriously considering calling up and telling them to just keep it and give me my money back, that damn nick in the beautiful walnut stock is really getting on my nerves. They have a "all firearm sales are final" policy but since I haven't picked it up yet, i'm not sure if that applies.

If there is a way to get rid of the nick and make it seem like there was no nick in the stock at all, then i'm going to keep the rifle but if not then i'm going to try and get my money back or perhaps get a different 10/22.

    FUCK

You can get the nick out with an iron but it may require refinishing the stock :hs:

I wish I could take a pic, but I don't have the gun yet even though it's already paid for..... stupid 5 day waiting period :hsd:

I guess you're right, it'll get nicks eventually and I should just deal with it, but it's the principle of it. I shouldn't be paying full price for a gun with fucking nicks in it.

You live in florida and you have to wait 5 days for a rifle? When I bought mine I carried it right out the door 20 minutes later.

It depends on your county... Broward and Miami-Dade counties have a 5 day waiting period.
