I went for the 13" MacBook (new design) to accompany my Mac Pro.

    -2 ghz c2d
    -160gb hd
-4gb ram (only thing I upgraded)

student discount saved me $50 on the computer and maybe $20-30 on the ram.

    Got a free printer too.

nice... make sure to post a review/pics when you get it
it sucks that you need to pay for the high-end macbook to get backlit keyboard :hs:

I never once used the backlit keyboard on my macbook pro in about 2.5 years :hs:

only thing i'm worried about is photo editing on the glossy screen. i guess we'll see. most of my work will still be done on the matte cinema display, but when I'm on the go I like to do some edits here and there as well.

I wanted a new MB so bad, but need that firewire port... I'm already pissed the old one only comes FW400, but it's better than nothing.

I was waiting to buy one until today, but it looks like I'm going to see if there are any clearance sales on the old one, or head to the refurb section I guess.

Looks like I can get a 2.4GHz MacBook Pro with the same memory, bigger HD, both FW400 and 800 ports for about $50 more than a new MacBook 2.0GHz - maybe I'll go for that.

FYI FW800 is backwards compatible to FW400. Just need a 9 to 6 conversion adapter/cable

The last Apple notebook I bought was the final (last before MacBook refresh) iBook G4s... how much faster are the new MacBooks? My iBG4 is still running OS X 10.3.9. It's slow as fuck opening pretty much anything

no, you shouldn't have. Apple rips you off on RAM. you can get 4GB for $90 but you'll pay $400 to them.

4gb was 130 for me :dunno:

saving 40 and ordering from newegg/ waiting/ installing myself isn't worth the trouble.

my question is, my mbp, do you think it can run games like Tiger Woods Golf, D3 and SC2(when they come out?) or will i have to get a mbp. i dunno but if the mb can do it i might just settle for that instead!

There arent any MAJOR differences here so i'm a little hesitant to jump on the MBP.

the screen doesnt outweigh the new things like the keyboard, graphics and battery life for me. for my mom it might though
