Ordered a Sony KDSR50XBR1 50" SXRD today. :wiggle: Now I have to upgrade my satellite service to HD. I know that Dish (my current provider) wants 299 upgrading my DVR to HD DVR and $99/mo for the Platinum Package that includes all of their HD channels, 180 SD channels and premium movie channels such as Showtime and HBO (including HBO HD).

I was also thinking about switching to DirecTV or Comcast but I don't know about their offerings. Any information and opinions are welcome.

Check your PM. Circuit City, Best Buy and even Sony online charge almost $900 more than what I paid.

Anybody considering a plasma or DLP really should check out SXRD. I was completely blown away by it, specially when compared to DLP's and even most plasmas.

They want $399 for the HD DVR though. And they didn't sound very excited about the possibility to get a new customer when I called them. So I told my current provider Dish that I want the upgrade. It'll cost me $299 for the HD DVR upgrade plus ~$6 for the HD monthly fee.

Had the Sony for a week now. I f**king love this TV. Beats every DLP and even all plasmas I've seen. Dish HD will be installed tomorrow. Can't wait!!

If anyone is looking to buy this TV in 60" , Fry's has it for between 3199 and 3499 depending on your store
