My first gun was glock 19, I sold it to move to Canada for school. Then I bought a Glock 23 from a friend that needed money, but all my pistols are 45 or 9 so I decided to sell my G23 in favor of a G17. I now prefer the fullsize frame compared to the compact frames of the 19 and 23. I had no idea they have a 4th Gen glock? Well thats what the saleman said it was. I haven't seen anyone post one yet on OTWMD so and I haven't been a diehard glock sackrider so I dont follow every single model change. I looked at glocks website and they dont show this grip/serrations so Im assuming its a 4th gen?

    quick pic at work

Ya they call that a sf iirc. 4th gen has actual changes to the frame for the first time in 20 years.

I dig my 2gen 17 almost too much to get a new one

OK so its a 4th gen then and not a 3.5? LOL Interesting his says Gen4 on the slide mine doesn't... his has "normal" serrations, mine has the gill serrations they talk about. I dont think mine came with adjustable back straps... lemme look.

Oh ya I agree an AR, glock, and 870 are the bare minimum a gun owner should have.

    ^want to buy in 17.

looks like i could swap my slide release, obviously not the mag release.

you have a 'rough texture' gen 3 which is considered by most to be gen 3.5. your gun is basically a gen 3 with a different texture and the gills on the slide. the gen 4 has a different recoil spring, mag release, SF (short frame) trigger housing, the backstraps, and standard slide serrations.

That is a RTF, aka rough texture frame. It's a 3rd gen glock with different cocking serrations, a different grip texture, and the cut away on the bottom of the front strap has been filled.

The 4th gen glock is much different. It has a new proprietary recoil rod that will no fit previous glocks. It's a 3 spring rod similar to that of the glock 26/27 and springco. The hole in the muzzle for the recoil rod/guide rod is bigger so the 3rd gen style guiderods will not fit. The 4th gen also use a ejector housing similar to the SF. The 4th gen housing will fit a SF but not the other way around. The trigger bar on the 4th gen is also different. It looks to be the same trigger bar as the 45gap.

The 4th gen frame looks cheap to me. I much prefer the look and feel of the RTF. The 4th gen frame looks like airsoft crap. The texture is not as good as the RTF. I also don't get why glock made it so different than the 3rd gen. It's not better, just different to be different.

The big thing about the 4th gen is the interchangable backstrap. Kind of dropped the ball here. There is not flat backstrap. There is the default backstrap which is ever so slightly slimmer than a 3rd gen. I could not feel much difference. Then there is the one size up which is ever so slightly bigger than the 3rd gen, then there is a fat backstrap that makes it feel like a G21.

Not trying to come across as a douche but I think we've got it covered. Seriously not trying to be a dick just saying. LOL

As I said the salesmen told me it was a 4th gen and me not knowing the difference at the time I couldn't argue with him, which also proves that salesmen do not know what they are selling. I didn't care if it was a 4th or 3rd gen honestly I just wanted another glock 9mm.
