I bought a Laptop yesterday, I think I got a good deal, but I'm sure some of you could tell me better.
    It's a Toshiba 15.4" Tru-Brite screen
    AMD Turion 64 X2 Core Duo @ 1.8ghz
    2gb RAM
    200GB HD
    ATI Radeon 1200? Graphics card
    Windows Vista
Then all the regular wireless, built in mic and camera, etc.
    It was just over $800.

Yep, that's the one. But I got it at Bestbuy for $699. I added 1GB (for a total of 2gb) memory for like $120.
Thanks for the feedback :big grin:

    uber shitty.

Lets ignore the fact that you bought a toshiba and look simply that you bought a turion. I feel the need to make a big bumper stick proclaiming "I'm a sucker" and send it to you.

Care to expand on that? I've had a Toshiba desktop for YEARS that has always been great.

    Don't worry about it...

Looks like a good deal on the laptop. Enjoy it.

    :mamoru: ignorance is bliss. :mamoru:

Toshiba historically under-performs. Based on the specs, you'd expect it to run snappy, and it feels considerably more lethargic.

Toshiba has always had thermal issues. They over-heat like crazy. And in their notebooks, this spells certain-death. In fact, the majority of service issues I see with Toshiba revolve around a dead cpu fan that requires replacement.

Toshiba build quality is attrocioius. cheap plastic, lack of any reasonable substance. Overall crap. Competitors such as HP make machines that are equally shitty in build quality, but at least there is some inspired design to please the eye -- toshiba is as plain as ThinkPad without any of the meat to actually back it up.

You spent too much money on a machine that just plain sucks.
