I had no intentions of buying a Glock. But a friend of mine called me today and told me he would sell me his 23, 4 mags and holster for $300 so I took it. It is the older version (no grooves or anything) but with a Hogue grip, so still feels ok. Also has night sights.

I took it to the range, put about 100 rounds through it and honestly did horrible. I own a few guns, but I have never shot this bad. I'm hoping I will just get used to the gun and it isnt just a POS.

    Just thought I would share.

do you have any experience with double action only pistols? Its an adjustment you have to make, absolutely.

The draw of Glocks is not their accuracy, so I hope you aren't expecting MOA groups out of it.

The Glock trigger takes some getting used to, and you'll need to learn to shoot from the reset to help cut down on the pull.

The Glock trigger does take a little practice to become profficient with. I also put a 3.5# connector and that really smoothed out the pull.

    How was it shooting bad?

Group not in center or just larger than average group.

Group was mostly a little to left and larger than average. I'm sure it mostly has to do with me, so I was pretty disappointed. It felt like my least accurate gun. This was at 25 feet and put 100 rounds through it.

Just keep burning ammo. You'll get used to it.

you probably need more practice, I am not a fan of glock, but I have shot plenty of them, including a 23, I didn't do so well either, but It certainly can't be any worse than my XD and I do just fine with that.

I have a G23 and hate it; actually, it is a love/hate relationship. I know that I can CCW it, and if I ever need it, it will act reliably. However, hitting the broad side of a barn is often challenging...

:hs: im about to buy my buddies 23 for about the same price, hes put less than 1000 rounds through it so i couldnt say no.

What are some things I should watch for with the 23, and some things I can do to improve my accuracy with it, technique-wise

Your the one who can't handle .40 :mamoru:

But yeah I might dump my G17 for a compact glock, or maybe the compact P99.

    45>40>9

Actually I'm really totally undecided what caliber I want to go with.. Mostly thinking 45, 40, or 9 cause I already got those calibers, but I'm going to research a bit on 10mm and 357sig too.

That trigger is a bitch. I had real problems with accuracy with the Glocks. (Sig > Glock)

I'd just like to add to this thread I'm still undecided as to whether to keep shooting the Glocks and eventually get another... or sell what I got now and get myself a Sig.

Damn, wish I had a Sig I could shoot for a Month or so to decide. Renting one once at a range isn't enough time.

Check out the Steyr 40 or 357, that low bore axis makes the 40 feel like a 9mm. That, grip angle and the smooth ass trigger make it a damn nice deal.
