it's good stuff, but you can get M193 cheaper usually, or Q3131A when it's on sale.

out of curiosity, how much did you spend?

ouch. OUCH. you can get LC XM193 for like $176 shipped, or close to that, for a case, from wholesale hunter. you can also get IMI M193 for $189 shipped for 1200 rounds. that is the best deal going right now, and what i'll be doing again here soon.

$210 per 1000, even with free shipping, is still WAY out of what you can find.

for example, this is an always-running sale on wholesale hunter. if you're hard pressed for ammo, go here. if you have time to wait, and look for better deals, there are many to be had.

bass pro ought to have a sale on Q3131A soon. at that point, it'll be going for $2.88 a box, and you can take the flyer to galyan's and they'll take 10% off bass pro's price. then you can buy all of galyan's's's's's, then go buy all of bass pro's. do it in that order, because galyan's only does the deal if it's in stock at bass pro.

I didn't think 109 for 500 rounds was terrible, I wasn't super concerned about price at the time.

hell, that extra $25 would get you a NIW USGI teflon mag with a green follower, shipped. and you'd still have $5 left over.

exactly. heavy, steel mags, with black followers. and for MORE money. you just proved my point.

seriously, i'm trying to save you money, but if you don't want that, hell, nevermind then.

there's a guy on AR15.com that i'm checking right now to see if he has anymore, but he had USGI New In Wrap teflon finished 30-rounders for $20, SHIPPED. i ordered 8, and they were here in like 3 or 4 days. if you catch him right before a ship date they come fast. otherwise, you wait until the ship date, then get them fast once they ship.

yeah, he's still got grey teflon LaBelle mags, and Black teflon DPMS mags (made by LaBelle, have a DPMS floorplate, black follower instead of green like the others) and FN mags for $20 each, shipped.

the FN's are out of the wrap, but are brand new. they are not teflon finished, but the standard anodized or whatever aluminum mags are new.

I remember when I used to think 500rds was sufficient. Now I'd like to buy it 5000rds at a time.

(PS. I paid like 13.XX a piece for those SA-80 mags you're talking about)

yeah, the other kind of brit mags are really good in comparison, although i've got a couple of the other, heavier ones. the black, light steels are nice. they remind me of the new HK 30-rd'rs, which are also black, and steel. steel is nice because they're durable. it's bad because they're steel, and when the finish comes off, the rust comes on. the problem with the royal ordinance mags is that, while they're constructed very well, the followers don't work well with AR's. a follower change will fix any problems you might have, although i've yet to have any so far with mine. the problem is that the follower is usually a blue follower, which has the anti-tilt legs on it (some are old black followers which don't), but the legs are longer than on green and orange followers. this means that if you load the mag full (30-rds.) you'll probably never get the mag to seat with a closed bolt, and if you seat it with an open one, it has a good chance of misfeeding the first round off the top. also, until the followers are broken in a little, and the plastic on the sides wears the burrs and roughness off, you MIGHT have some feeding problems with the follower.

i know you're pretty gnu to the AR ballgame, and i might've come off wrong the first post. if so, sorry. in the subsequent posts, i felt like you were being beligerant and completely ignoring a good deal. as far as mags go, the ONLY reason i bought all these mags now, instead of in september, is that i need them for a class in april. if you have enough mags to get by for whatever you're using your rifle for, stick with that until september, when prices will drop to $10-12 for NIW USGI teflon mags with green followers. hopefully by then HK mags will drop in price too, but i'm not holding my breath.
