A buddy at work has a couple 10in Boston subs he wants get rid of. Kind of tempted, but I don't know how they compare to other brands. I currently have a 10in JLB GTO, is Boston better or worse?

Boston makes really well-built, great sounding drivers at pretty much whatever price point. How they compare to other options depends a lot on what they are...needs more details.

I rock a pair of 12.5LFs (ProSeries) which are older but still considered one of the best SQ subs out there. Output capability isn't extreme, though they do play plenty loud still. They have other drivers (the newer G5 for example) that play much louder and much lower, but aren't nearly as fast or as responsive for demanding SQ oriented music.

Pics or description of what they look like at least (if not a model number)?

They were Rally Series.....and unfortunatly, there was a rip in the foam surround, and the other woofer had a rip in the cone that was reglued, both he didn't notice when he got them. So yea, I don't think I will take them..

the rally series is quite old and, if especially ripped already, have probably had a long, hard life in an over-powered, clipped system. I'd avoid

    poor Boston's...

Aside from breaking things, what does one do with 3 555s?
