    Wassup guys.

Ive been looking to get some BA G5's. I have a question regarding the RMS power rating since its a dual voice coil.

The spec sheet says 450watts rms. Is that per coil? Or combined?

Also how is a dual voice coil sub usually powered? By a 2 channel amp? Or two mono amps?

    Thanks.

    A) Total RMS handling for the driver
    B) Usually on a single channel...a mono or a bridged stereo amp
B2) Its tough to do either of your options well...though it can be done. To avoid problems the amps need to be very closely matched, same crossover frequency, etc.

DVC subs aren't intended to do anything other than increase wiring options (at least in this area of the market). For example a single 4 ohm sub can only be wired as 4 ohm...but a dual 4 ohm sub can go either 8 ohm or 2 ohm.

This gets you a lot more options as you add more drivers.
