Well I have always believed that Bose is way over hyped and not worth the price, but this wave radio has got to be the biggest rip off that they have going. I was at my grandmothers this weekend and I mentioned something about this Harry James CD that I have. This is the best recorded CD that I have and is one of the CDs that I use to evaluate/show off/demo my audio systems. Well, my grandmother gets my grandfathers wave radio (with the CD feature) and I put in the Harry James CD. Well I can honestly say that my computer speakers sound as good as this thing. There was nothing special about it at all. I think the whole wave radio thing is just psychoacoustics at work.

Their subwoofers are the only thing remotely interesting to me. Properly tuned they can pump out seroius bass. But their satellite speakers are actually $5 bargin bin computer speakers.

Yea, this wave radio was not dynamic AT ALL even compared to anything even remotely close to its price range.

Bose is like high end for people who don't know anything about stereos.

Exactly. That's why rich dummies will pay top dollar for a sub par product. I must admit, they have a good marketing department.

I have never been impressed with Bose. Even when the 901s were the big thing in high end audio, my Infinity Qb's (with the EMIT tweeter) sounded better and much cleaner. A pair of 901s was around $1000 and my Infinity's were $300.

I'm probably going to replace my Accord with a Maxima and I am definitely putting the stereo in the Accord into the Maxima and trashing the Bose system that it comes with.

I agree about the Wave systems. I have a $50 Labtec speaker system (4" sub and two satellites) that sound just as good, if not better than a Bose Wave radio.

:dunno: I guess if you have very limited space so you don't have room for a conventional system. They sound decent, but not $400-500 worth of decent. If they were in the $150-200 range then they would be a good deal.

Yikes dude, if you are impressed by the bose base module, you should really check out some REAL subwoofers... Even the inexpensive JBLs or similar should have much better performance than the Bose bass module provides...

I'd call that midbass. The bose should be able to play lower than that. 120hz isn't very low.

My dad has a Bose system. The bass module consists of a single 4th order bandpass enclosure with a 5.25 inch woofer... My stereo speakers use larger midwoofers. :)

:werd: I agree totally. I find it funny they have such expensive products when you can get similar from other companies for a lot less money.
