So I've been a patch and rod guy my entire life; mainly because that's how I was taught to clean a firearm since I was 8 years old. But I picked up a boresnake today for my PT1911, because using a rod and patch on a pistol is awkward as hell for me.
But anyway long story short, I have never cleaned anything so well and so fast before in my life . I would recommend them to anyone with a pistol. This is one thing I will never have buyer's remorse over; in fact I'm kicking myself for not acting on people's recommendations of them earlier.

I know how OT loves pix so here ya go.

yes, I have boresnakes for all of my firearms. They don't entirely replace patches and rods... I still use them for passing solvent and oil, etc... But they make cleaning a very quick business.

you can put them in the washing machine.... put them in one of those "delicates" pouches that women use. Just air-dry...

You can also use a hose/bucket.

:werd: I think I might try to find one for my 8mm Mauser and run one through 3 or 4 times, then run a patch and see how clean it comes out. But right now I'm more sold than a bag of Cheeto's to Ted Kennedy when it comes to using them on pistols.

I use hoppes, as well.... Not because it's cheap, but it's so easy to find, and I haven't really tried much else :mamoru:

I dab Hoppes on my neck before dates :o

I have a bore snake for my .22s. It makes a great quick cleaner. But I would use the traditional method on my Rem 700. (Whenever I get it :o )

Just email George at [email protected] with your mailing addy and he'll get it out to you. Or just call them toll free at (800) 390-1535 and let George/Gary/Brian or Mark know you'd like to get a free sample.

Wait.... You're supposed to clean your weapons?

G19: 11,400 rounds since last cleaning or oiling
G26: 2200 rounds since last cleaning or oiling (well, I wipe the outside of slide off since it's my carry piece)
AR15: 750 rounds, new, never oiled or cleaned.
    Remington 870 Tactical: 1500 rounds (mostly +8 2 3/4", but about 50 3" magnum 000) since last cleaning/oiling.

Just get weapons that don't need to be babied :bigok:
